5 Things about TBR’s you need to know!

A TBR is a Technical Business Review and AcaciaIT conducts them with all our clients either monthly, quarterly, or annually depending on your company size and needs.

If you’re with an IT company that doesn’t meet with you regularly, or just uses the meeting to push salespeople at you, you may want to consider talking to us!

Here are the 5 things you need to know about TBR’s

1. Why TBR’s are important?

TBR’s, when conducted properly, help your business to align IT with your vision. You have a plan for where the company is going and as your partner, we can offer suggestions on ways IT can be used to simplify processes, improve productivity reduce spending and obtaining your goals. TBR’s are the piece of the business puzzle to fit IT into the overall plan.

2. What is discussed at a TBR?

Your company goals, where the company currently stands and what you want to accomplish.
A TBR is designed to educate you on your current security posture, your infrastructure and new technologies that may assist you in achieving what you are trying to accomplish. TBR’s are also used to give you information on any compliance needs you have and what needs to be accomplished to obtain compliance.

3. Who should attend a TBR?

Company decision makers, executive staff and any internal IT personnel. All of these people make decisions on where you want your company to go so when new ideas and information is shared they can take advantage and move your company forward.

4. What does your IT vendor need to conduct a proper TBR?

Information pure and simple. Items like who your other company vendors are, what your budget for IT in the next year is, what software you are looking to purchase or need help with decisions on,

5. How often should you have a TBR?

This will depend on the size of your company and how rapidly you are moving to your goals, we have companies we meet with monthly, Quarterly and Annually based on their growth and need for review of information. On average companies of 10 to 19 are annual, 20 to 100 are quarterly above 100 tend to be monthly but this is only a generalization there are companies that are simply moving fast and need more attention even though they are smaller.

TBR’s are an extremely important part of your overall business planning and IT needs assessments and should not be avoided or treated like sales meetings. You have hired an IT company to assist you and they should be coming to you with information and advice that focuses on your company and its best interests. If they are treating it like sales, then you have the wrong IT company.
